Richmond Technology Examiner
September 2011 to present
I write articles regarding technology and social media and how they change the way we communicate.
August 2011 to present
I contribute pictures and articles in response to assignments posted on iReport. One of the HLN producers called me about My 9/11 Story, and they aired a part of the interview.
January 2010 to April 2010
My part-time unpaid internship at WSLS was very rewarding to me. Not only did I get to see the reporter’s side, I saw how producers prepared shows every day. I interned on Fridays and Sundays. On Fridays, I shadowed reporters and interviewed prospects. On Sundays, I shadowed news producers, and they showed me how to put a show together. I wrote leads, VOs, VOSOTs, and teases. I also learned how to stack newscasts. Before this internship, I wanted to start out as a reporter. By the end, I wanted to be a producer because I want to improve my writing skills more and really learn the ins-and-outs of this business.
June 2009 to August 2009
This was my first internship, and it provided me with a huge insight of what it is like to be a reporter. I learned how to write leads, VOs, VOSOTs, packages, and teases. I also had the opportunity to brush up on my interview skills and work with photographers.
During my internship, I wrote and produced a package about a school play, which aired on the weekend newscast.
