ANTHEM MOONLIGHT BIKE RIDE: BIKE RIDERS TOOK  TO THE STREETS OF RICHMOND TONIGHT FOR THE ANTHEM MOONLIGHT RIDE IN BYRD PARK.

THE EVENT STARTED AROUND 8 O-CLOCK AT SPORTSBACKER’S STADIUM.

PARTICIPANTS HAD A CHOICE WHETHER TO DO THE 8 MILE RIDE CALLED “THE HALF MOON” OR THE BIG ONE… A 17 MILE RIDE CALLED “THE FULL MOON.”

MANY WERE COVERED IN LIGHTS SO THEY COULD WIN AWARDS SUCH AS “BEST COSTUME” AND “TACKIEST LIGHTS.”
AT THE END OF THE RACE… RIDERS DANCED ALONG WITH LIVE MUSIC AND ENJOYED SOME FREE FOOD.
IT’S REALLY A RECREATIONAL EVENT THERE.

PETERSBURG SHOOTING: RIGHT NOW— POLICE IN PETERSBURG ARE SEARCHING FOR A SUSPECT IN A SHOOTING THEY BELIEVE STARTED FROM AN ARGUMENT.

WE’RE TOLD 20 YEAR OLD DAJON PEGRAM IS WANTED ON A MALICIOUS WOUNDING CHARGE, AND HAS A NUMBER OF ADDRESSES IN THE TRI-CITIES.

POLICE SAY THEY FOUND A MAN SHOT IN THE 19-HUNDRED BLOCK OF JOHNSON ROAD AT ABOUT 10-30 LAST NIGHT.  HIS INJURIES ARE NON-LIFE THREATENING.

CHESTERFIELD HOUSE FIRE: {***BILL***} WE BEGIN CBS 6 NEWS AT 11 WITH BREAKING NEWS OUT OF CHESTERFIELD.  GOOD EVENING.  I’M BILL FITZGERALD.

{***STEPH***} AND I’M STEPHANIE ROCHON.  THREE CHESTERFIELD FIREFIGHTERS WERE INJURED WHILE PUTTING OUT A HOUSE FIRE TONIGHT.

{***VO***} THE FIRE STARTED ROUND 7:40 THIS EVENING IN THE 22-HUNDRED BLOCK OF GREENFIELD DRIVE.

CHESTERFIELD FIREFIGHTERS SAY IT STARTED AS A VEHICLE FIRE WHICH SPREAD TO A CARPORT BUT THEN EVENTUALLY SPREAD TO THE OUTSIDE AND THE ATTIC OF THE HOSUE.

THE ROOF COLLAPSED INJURING THREE FIREFIGHTERS.  THEY WERE TAKEN TO JOHNSTON WILLIS HOSPITAL BUT CBS 6 NEWS WAS TOLD THAT THEIR INJURIES ARE NON-LIFE THREATENING.

IT TOOK CREWS 35 MINUTES TO GET THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL.

PORTSMOUTH TOLLS: YOU COULD SOON BE PAYING A TOLL TO TAKE THE TUNNEL TO ONE VIRGINIA CITY – THE STATE’S SUPREME COURT WILL DECIDE ON WEDNESDAY WHETHER V-DOT CAN PROCEED WITH THEIR PLAN TO TOLL THE DOWNTOWN AND MID-TOWN TUNNELS TO PORTSMOUTH.

DRIVERS WOULD HAVE TO PAY 2-DOLLARS STARTING FEBRUARY OF NEXT YEAR – THE MONEY WOULD GO TOWARD FUNDING A MASSIVE STATE-WIDE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. BUT BEFORE THE TOLL COULD BE FINALIZED…A GROUP CAME TOGETHER TO PROTEST THE FEE.

A PORTSMOUTH CIRCUIT JUDGE RULED IN THEIR FAVOR SAYING THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SET THEM.

C-B-S SIX LEGAL ANALYST TODD STONE SAYS THE COURT WILL HAVE TO ADDRESS ISSUES LEFT OUT OF RULING MADE BY THE CIRCUIT JUDGE.

SOT: “That’s the only issue that the supreme court has to look at is that judge make a mistake? And so they got to decide whether the general assembly has authority to delegate out the decisions to make tolls like this in Virginia.”
